2018 IU Welcome Week Block Party
Presented by Union Board, RPS, and RHA
Event Description
Celebrate the start of a new school year with Residential Programs & Services, the Residence Hall Association, and the Indiana Memorial Union Board with the 2018 Welcome Week Block Party headlined by some of the biggest names in electronic, dance, and alternative rock!
Opening the night will be alternative rock band Teenage Wrist kicking off the 2018 Welcome Week Block Party with dreamy vocals and distorted guitars. Breakout artist Whethan will follow: with his chart-topping and forward-thinking releases, the 19-year old rising star has managed to accumulate over a million streams on multiple platforms and is one of the hottest acts to watch right now.
To close out the evening, students will witness superstar DJ, sought-after producer, taste-making label owner, and wizard behind Major Lazer, Diplo. Given his ability to seamlessly fuse 80s pop with Miami bass and the hip-hop of Dirty South, it’s no wonder he’s regarded as a king in the electronic music realm.
RHA & Union Board will also be co-hosting a large carnival at 13th Street & Fee Lane with exciting attractions, activity booths, food trucks, and more. The carnival will be open to all students, free of charge, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
