Event Description
The Taste of Home Cooking School—America’s leading cooking school program—is returning to IU Auditorium! Inspiring more than 300,000 passionate home chefs each year at 300 events across the country, Taste of Home's professional culinary specialists demonstrate recipes, cooking methods, practical kitchen tips and plating techniques in an entertaining and educational environment.
At the Taste of Home Cooking School show, attendees will enjoy two hours of exciting recipe demonstrations using seasonal ingredients easily found at the local grocery store. All attendees receive a valuable gift bag filled with money-saving coupons, product samples and magazines—and they're entered to win one of a number of exciting door prizes and the chance to take home a dish prepared during the show.
In addition to the gift bag, vendor booths offering samples and demonstrations, and a fantastic cooking presentation, attendees will enjoy exciting new features at this year's event:
• All tickets will accommodate reserved seating—you can reserve the best available seats when you make your purchase.
• The local vendor exhibition will feature live music!
• Delicious hand-held meals will be available for purchase from local restaurants.
• We’re giving away more prizes than ever before and every attendee can enter!
VIP ticket holders will receive additional benefits, including guaranteed up-front seating for the show, a voucher good for one hand-held meal from a food vendor, early entry to the vendor exhibition and a VIP welcome with hors d'oeuvres, and an exclusive meet-and-greet with culinary specialist Dana Elliott. Don’t wait—limited VIP tickets are available!
Dana Elliott, a Taste of Home audience favorite, returns to IU Auditorium for this year's event to entertain, instruct, and inspire with a wide variety of cooking demonstrations. Dana grew up near Indianapolis and began learning to cook at an early age; she has fond memories of her mom's homemade spaghetti and meatballs. And she loves to garden—“I’m a miniature farmer. I have everything: cucumbers, celery, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and horseradish.” When she’s not busy on the road presenting cooking school shows, she’s at home with her family in central Indiana.
The Taste of Home Cooking School has a storied history, beginning in 1948 with a business venture that was originally called "Homemaker Schools." One busy home economist loaded up her station wagon and drove across the Midwest, stopping at small-town appliance dealerships to conduct cooking classes for dozens of homemakers. The cooking school was acquired by Taste of Home magazine in the '90s, and now, more than 60 years later, nine culinary specialists conduct hundreds of shows across the country for audiences in the thousands. The mission remains the same, though: To share best loved recipes from one home cook to another.
You're invited to come join the fun—let’s get cooking!
