Tony Award-Winning Broadway Classic Annie Arrives April 11 and 12
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – IU Auditorium is proud to present an all-new touring production of the iconic Tony Award-winning musical Annie for two performances on April 11 and 12 at 7 p.m.
Holding onto hope when times are tough can take an awful lot of determination, and sometimes, an awful lot of determination comes in a surprisingly small package. Little Orphan Annie has reminded generations of theatergoers that sunshine is always right around the corner, and now the best-loved musical of all time is set to return in a new production.
“It is always a treat to present the classic musical Annie,” said IU Auditorium Executive Director Maria Talbert. “This show has been beloved by generations of theatregoers and is the perfect way to introduce children or newcomers to live Broadway musicals. It’s fun, funny, charming, and sure to be a great time for all audiences.”
Hailed by the Chicago Tribune as, “one of the best family musicals ever penned!”, Annie is directed by Jenn Thompson and features the iconic book and score written by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse, and Martin Charnin. This celebration of family, optimism and the American spirit remains the ultimate cure for all the hard knocks life throws our way.
The beloved score for Annie includes well-known tunes “Maybe,” “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile,” “Easy Street,” and the eternal anthem of optimism, “Tomorrow.”
Kids Night on Broadway
In addition to the performance, Annie will be IU Auditorium’s annual Kids’ Night on Broadway celebration for the 2022–2023 season. IU Auditorium will provide crafts and creative educational activities for children and families to enjoy preceding each show when doors open at 6 p.m.
