Chimes of Christmas Returns as the Singing Hoosiers Celebrate 75 Years of Performing
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Singing Hoosiers will present their annual holiday concert, Chimes of Christmas, at IU Auditorium on Saturday, December 7 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Celebrating the 75th anniversary this year of the Singing Hoosiers, the performing group will be joined by special guests including the African American Chorale Ensemble, Hooshir A Cappella, and IU Wind Ensemble.
This concert has been a Bloomington holiday staple for over six decades. This year’s show promises to be a festive family-friendly event and will feature favorite holiday songs as well as selections from Elf and Spirited. The repertoire will also feature works composed by the Choral Department Chair at the IU Jacobs School of Music, Dominick DiOrio, and the Executive Director of IU’s African American Arts Institute, Raymond Wise.
“Nothing puts a stamp on the holiday season like when the Singing Hoosiers take our stage for their annual presentation of Chimes of Christmas,” said IU Auditorium Executive Director Maria Talbert. “The group is celebrating their 75th anniversary this year and so this year’s show is sure to be filled with popular holiday songs showcasing the past, present, and future of the Singing Hoosiers. We hope audiences will join us in this long-standing tradition that puts us all in the holiday spirit.”
The Singing Hoosiers, directed by Dr. Chris Albanese, have entertained audiences across the United States and in more than 25 countries spanning Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Caribbean.
